Chinese branded smart phone maker Konka to enter India US $ 30 Million investment


The Chinese Smart phone brand Konka has partnered with MAK Mobility for distribution and marketing of smart phones on Android platform and building a dedicated service network across India. Company sees big opportunity in the smartphone segment which contributes 25% by value, and 10% by units sold with CAGR of 100%.
Li Hongtao, Chairman of KONKA Telecom said, “We aim to offer quality products with novel features matching the expectations of the Konka T518 Chinese branded smart phone maker Konka to enter India US $ 30 Million investmentdiscerning consumers, especially the youth whose lifestyle increasingly revolves around smart devices. We plan to create localized mobile internet eco-system by providing smart devices bundled with cloud based services and applications.”
The company has announced a USD 30 Million investment in India.
With USD 3 Bn in 2011, Konka has over 25000 employees, 5 manufacturing bases in China and 3 manufacturing bases in Indonesia, Mexico and Turkey. The company is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange from 1992, with 400 million A-shares and 200 million B-shares. The company is ranked 5th among “Top 10 valuable Chinese electronic Brands” awarded by IDG in CES and Famous trademark: Top 10 of the “China Well-know trademarks” having brand value of USD 2 billion .
